Introducing Captain Smeg

Another day in the hub Jack looking rather nervously wristwatch, trailer ling back and forth, shifting some items around to clean up the hub a little.
“Good morning sir, erm. Sir? Isn’t it my job to clean the mess up?” Ianto scratching the back of his head in puzzlement.
“Well you can help if you want, but we have to be really quick, because today we are having a VIP in the facility” jack too deep in thought trying to scuffle the few remaining coffee cups and empty chips packets underneath the sofa.
Ianto looking even more confused “a VIP? Its not Martha again is it? Because I’m still waiting on my red cap you know” grabbing a black bin bag to bin all of the Chinese that the team had the other night, from the coffee table just in front of the sofa.

Jack slightly grinned and chuckled underneath his breath “no its not, and I’ve been emailing her to send you one, but things have kinda got out of hand a little there, nothing to big that they cant handle. But this person that were gonna meet is someone better! And I guaranty that your gonna love them as much as I do, and I can only see this captain once a year, so it’s kinda important for me.” Sweeping the dust bunnies aside with his boots making the hub clean as possible. “Jack , there’s another captain, who?” once they finished Jack crossed his arms and sighed with satisfaction. “There we go that will do, come on Mr Jones, let’s go!”
“Waite! What? Jack you’re going way to fast here, what’s going on? Who are we meeting?”

Jack looking profound at Ianto “ok I should have told you this a while back, but never really find the right time and place to say this, so here it goes. You better sit down because what I’m about to tell you, you can not tell anyone else, promise me?”

Ianto sat down on the pull out sofa, and looked intently at jack, crossing his legs and arms, with a warm smile on his face “you know me Jack; I can always keep your promises”.

Jack placing one hand on his side, and scratching the back of his for head with the other trailing back and forth the hub, “I’ve been keeping an eye on certain rift activities for the last couple of days, and I do believe that there is a parallel portal here that only opens up once a year, its happened for the last couple of months in a row its just that I have kept it a secret till now”.

Ianto found with suspicion and curiosity “but Jack that’s not possible right? How can it happen I thought that when we saved the world all of the time and space time were in balance?”

Jack sat down beside Ianto on one of the swirl office chairs, near the workstations. Jack brushed his hair with his hand, with his legs apart, crouching over placing his arms on the edge of his knees. “Remember the day when we activated the hydron collida?”

Ianto squinting and frowning trying to remember what happed that day “not really Jack, one minute we were talking about candy floss as clouds, then I was the ambassador of Wales, and apart from that its just a vague memory, why do you ask Jack? Besides I thought that it was a success?”

Jack paused and laughed a little for a moment and continued “ well, yes it was a success, but there is a little stitch in time what keeps seeping through into our own world, its picking up different patterns in the rift modulator, because now and again people from the parallel world can seep through to our own.”

“But Jack, there are three known parallel worlds out there that scientists have grasped, what’s to say that aliens from other planets, what if Aberdon can come back?!”

Jack pointing at Toshiko’s computer, “that’s not going to happen, cause I’ve made a few minor modifications to the Torchwood satellite, it will grant me access of all the creatures, maybe people of the 2nd parallel world into our own, but I’ve blocked out the 3rd dimension…”

“Why have you blocked the third dimension for Jack?”
“Cause that’s where all your nightmares come true, the darkness, the one creature that could kill the existence of life as we know…and that I don’t want to let it seep though into this dimension...”

Ianto letting out a sight of relief still gazing into Jacks eyes, he could see what was behind them though, a fiery determination in them that Ianto has never seen before. Ianto smiled with reassurance “that’s good to know then sir, so who’s this other captain that were gonna meet then?”

Jack looked down at the floor and smiled “were gonna meet someone who’s very close to me, were alike, this captain does what I do in the 2nd parallel world…” Jack checking his wristwatch again to register what time it is, slightly letting out “11:52pm”. Jack arose from the desk chair reaching out a hand for Ianto to hold of “right lets go, or other wise where gonna be late”.
“Late for what Jack?
Jack took Ianto’s hand and held him close, giving him a frim grip and with passion in his eye that lit up like stars “you’ll see”

Jack and Ianto made there way past the sofa going across to the invisible lift, both of them stepped on the lift, jack pressed a couple of buttons on his vortex manipulator, causing the lift to gradually rise up, seeing the vast lay out of inside the hub, waiting the water trickle down from the top of the hub making it look like a waterfall Ianto looked at the reflection that it gave out but only seeing him and Jack, Ianto smiled thinking that’s all that he wants. The lift suddenly came to a stop finally reaching the surface jack said with anticipation “right, the captain should be hear any moment, one minuet to go Ianto”.

Ianto looking around the vast bay “Jack I cant see anyone”.
Jack smirking “oh you’ll see”.
There and a bright rip in the fabric of time and space, suddenly a young woman fell through the portal stumbling, but managed she managed to land on the ground perfectly intact, without a scratch. She immediately got up and started running around “whoa!!!! hot, hot, hot!!! Ach!!!” she ran straight into the hub trying to cool her off with the water that has coming from it, there jack and Ianto saw the young gal simmering under the hub cooling herself off . Jack immediately saluted to the gal and grinned “good to see you again Captain Smeg! Looks like things have started to heat up here”.

The young gal pulled herself together “Christ I really hate that part, flipping heck I’m burning, MY COAT!!! Argh!!! Of all things why?!” she arose Jack and Ianto saw the gal soaked to the bone, black coat, blue shirt, baggy ripped jeans, and glasses and soaking red hair. Ianto said to Jack very slight “you have got to be kidding me, this cant be the captain that you were telling me about?”
Jack raised a brow and said to Ianto “nope no Joke, this is the Legendary Captain Smeg”.

The young gal cleaning her spectacles, placing out her hand and shook Mr. Ianto’s hand “oh I’m defiantly Captain Smeg, trust me no other gal can survive going through a rift in time and space apart from three people that I know of…I…urgh…don’t feel…so…” suddenly panting, kneeling on the ground fainting, cause her to shiver under the water tower water. Jack looking rather sorrowful at her knelt down on one knee and wrapped his coat around her, picking her up gently trying to ensure that she didn’t catch a cold, moving her away from the fountain, smiling at the fact that she looked peaceful, remembering back to the first day that they met…

*flash back of captain Jacks*

Time agency December 31st  3199, midnight, Jack and Smeg looking up at the stars, with a full lit moon that shined along the sandy shores of the Boeshane Peninsula, cracking open a bottle of wine with a little fire to celebrate the new year with. “So Jack what’s your new years resolution?”
Jack bashfully whilst grinning replied “ahhh I rather not say”.
Smeg replied with a hint of sarcasm, whilst pleading “common we’ve been partners on every mission that the agency has dished out at us, fighting the scum of the universe, saving planets, galaxies! …”
Smeg took another sip of wine from her wine glass, and continued talking, whilst looking intently into the sea, admiring the view that the night has bestowed upon them, watching the stars and the moons glistens in the night sky,  she let out a deep satisfaction “its beautiful…so come on, what’s your resolution Jack, you know you can tell me?”
Jack shot up and smiled at Smeg “all right! This time I’ll pass my courses, earn my ranks, and you never know I might end up captain of the time agency”. Jack smirking, and pulling a pose that a comic book hero would do “so how does this sound Captain Jack Harkness? Has a ring to it right?”. Smeg just looked at him with a dumbfound look upon her face, “yeah right” They both burst out laughing into the night sky looking back up at the stars “ so what about you Smeg, what’s your resolutions gonna be?” pouring him and her another glass of wine, jack passes a glass over to her. Smeg looking into her drink, circling the rim of the crystal glass with her finger, seeing the reflection of the moon that shone in the wine, she smiles and looks up into the night sky “I want to be the hero just this once, but we all have our time to shine…captain Jack”
Shruffing up his hair, whitest she laughing at the fact it looked like a dog licked him upside the head, jack purred “ahhh come here you, little…”
Suddenly there were meteorites showering in the sky that night, but something was wrong, they could both feel it, both looking up at the sky now filled with fire, looking at the horror, shrapnel falling from the sky like as if the stars were falling out of the dark vast space, Smeg shocked by all of this seeing what she said was true, fainted into the darkness once more, with Harkness by her side, picking her up and running to safety…

*in the current time*

Smeg woke up in a cold pant and sweat, on the pull out sofa, waking up with nothing but a bath robe on her, with Jack trying to calm her down, from her still being in the state of shock with the dream she just had “JACK!!! There after me!...I urgh…where the hell am I?” Jack smiled and reassured her “don’t worry smeg everythings better now, no ones after you” brushing her fringe aside.
“Jack I just wanna say I’m sorry for startling you earlier out side, flipping heck it is pretty manic, Brad the bloody weevil escaped again, last thing me and Tegan were doing back home and then the floor opened, and I ended getting burnt…strange aye…”.

Ianto entered with fresh cups of coffee for the three of them. Smeg smiled at as she took hers from him “thank you Mr Ianto Jones, and thank you Jack”
Smeg took a sip from her coffee, smiling with satifaction “hummm…just the way I like my coffee…black, strong, and with sugar, thank you Ianto.”
Ianto slightly laughed “ditto Miss Smeg, oh and I took the liberty of cleaning your clothes for you too, and here”
Ianto passed Smeg an antique pocketwatch “I gave it a good clean, to make sure that it’s in working order”.

he paused for a moment and then continued "and here are your glasses, cleaned to perfection miss" Ianto then gave a wrm smile to the lovely gal
Smeg smiled, as she took the item from Ianto “thank you, this is very important to me, its been with me since the day I was born...now thats a hell of a story right there" smeg smiled and grinned seeing her refeltion in the glass frame.
Jack got up from the spining chair that he was sitting on, and made his bunk were Ianto was heading "right little missy, time that you should be getting some shut eye, you've had a busy day and..."

the good old captain turned around to see a peacefull sleeping smeg, Jack placed    
the pocket watch that she was hold on the table next to her, whilest gentily brushing his hand against her head, dimming the lights, and making his way to where his little Ianto is, for this was just a night, the tomorrow the real adventure begins...
